Caring for Your Varencia

Varencia is built for daily wear. With a little care, your jewelry will look beautiful for years.

This guide covers our two material families: 316L surgical-grade stainless steel with PVD-bonded gold and rose gold finishes, and solid 925 sterling silver. Each has slightly different care needs.

Caring for Stainless Steel & PVD Pieces

Stainless steel with PVD-bonded gold or rose gold finishes is built for everyday wear. Care is simple:

• Daily wear: No need to remove your jewelry for showering, swimming, sweating, or daily activity. For best results, apply lotion, perfume, and sunscreen before putting on your jewelry rather than after.
• Cleaning: Use mild soap and warm water. Wipe gently with a soft cloth and air dry, or pat dry with a clean cloth.
• Storage: Store in a soft pouch or jewelry box. Keep pieces separate from harder metals to prevent scratching.

Caring for Sterling Silver Pieces

Solid 925 sterling silver is a classic precious metal valued for its lasting brilliance. It naturally develops a patina over time, which is part of the metal's character.

• Daily wear: Sterling silver is fine in the shower. We recommend removing sterling silver pieces before swimming in pools or the ocean. Chlorinated water and saltwater accelerate tarnish.
• Cleaning: Use a soft sterling silver polishing cloth to gently restore shine. For deeper cleaning, mild soap and warm water followed by a thorough dry.
• Storage: Store in a sealed pouch or airtight container with an anti-tarnish strip. Air exposure produces the natural oxidation that causes tarnish over time.

Patina on sterling silver is normal and is not considered a defect. Many wearers appreciate the warmer, deeper tone that develops over time.

What to Avoid

These apply to both stainless steel and sterling silver pieces:

• Abrasive cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, and polishing compounds (other than a soft polishing cloth for sterling pieces)
• Bleach, acetone, and other harsh chemicals
• Applying hairspray, perfume, or other aerosols directly against the jewelry surface
• Storing jewelry in damp environments such as bathrooms or gym bags
